my entry

finally had some time to take a picture of my entry in Gilx's moly.

I knew instantly on opening the book what I was going to make.

I made a 2 page zentangle with a black pigma micron and then added some color with felttips. I had a lot of fun making this.

Are you ready for it Lau?

danny's book & my entry...

Ok, fist thing that I said when I received glix's book was... ok, I couldn't say anything, cause the work he made in it is absolutely stunning. It left me spechless till the next day when I woke up, looked at it again and said "WOW.":)
It was really challenging for me to continue the artwork in the book, especially, cause I work mainly in black and white, and Danny's works are full of colours.
yep,
Let's just see what happens next... Robin, Are you ready?

BIG SUPPORT FOR CINDY!!!

I guess everyone knows that It 's been kind of difficult time for her, but now everything seems to be getting better and better.
Don't worry Cindy, it's all gonna be alright soon!!!
xx

added 9/23/08: thanks Kara for your well wishes :) My apologies to you all for slowing things down and keeping Janine's sketchbook far too long. Sorry to say I didn't contribute anything but passed it on to Laura to fill the pages as next in line. I'm drawing still but because my time and energy are limited because of illness I've been focusing on getting down the people and places that surround me. Sorry again to have caused delays, my best to you all. Cindy

hello again!!!!

It's been quite a while since I posted my last note here, so I do apologize.
Ok, so that's my book, that I'm sending to Robin this week, cause since I started asking Mariah for her adress, there was no reply from her. I'm not sure, but it seems that she's not interested in this project anymore. Hope everything's ok with her.
Anyway, here's my "Alice in Wonderland" moleskine, which goes to Robin this week:)
Have fun:)

yeeeaaaahhhh!!!!

I got robin's moleskine today!

Wauw, it feels really odd to have something in my hands that I saw on the internet.

And to think that an actual "normal";) person made this, by hand!!

It amazes me.

I've started...

Some of you finished making the artwork... I've just started, even though I chose the theme for my book some time ago. Anyway, I'm going to make it in black and white and I may make it lok a little bit like collage.
The theme of my book is "alice in wonderland", and I'm going to blend the elements, characters and ideas from lewis caroll's book in my entry. I don't want to start my moly just like the story in "Alice in wonderland" begins, I just want to make some kind of tribute to it, choosing the particular images that were the most important for me when I read the book whan I was a kid. I know that each one of you find many different parts of the story in "Alice in Wonderland" as the most significant ones. It's just like when two people watch the same movie, but each one of them pays attention on different things in the plot or in its visual structure. I hope that later on we will have a chance to compare our impressions and memories related to "alice in wonderland"

And, this picture is just the first two pages of my moly, not the proper artwork I'd like to make on the accordion page. I'll try to speed up a bit, cause I've got the iression that I'm the laziest person in this group:)

finished!!

I finished my entry today!
I chose the theme "enchanted forrest".

I hope everybody has fun making their entry.
As soon as Cindy is ready I will send it to her.

"who gets it next?" -the order of sending books

hi there,
I've just thought that it will be better to post the order of sending books here instead of sending several e-mails... I've changed the order a bit so that r8r, cindy and glix could receive a book from other part of the world, not only u.s.a.,
ok, so the order is:
monikasilvs (Poland) to Mariah (Spain)
Mariah(Spain) to r8r (USA)
r8r (USA) to Janine (Netherlands)
Janine (Netherlands) to Cindy (USA)
Cindy (USA) to LauGiraudo (Argentina)
Laugiraudo (Argentina) to glix (USA)
glix (USA) to monikasilvs (Poland)

hope that it makes sense:)
I sugest you guys not to hesitate to contact via flickrmail or adding the group members to your flickr contact lists. It's the easiest way o get to know each other better, get the addresses that you have to send your books to and so on...
have fun:)

Sunday, May 4, 2008

I've begun my book. It's the first of May here in Portland, Oregon, USA, which works out to a time of changeable weather: a chilly gray downpour one minute, sunny skies and chirping birds the next. I was sorting through ideas for this book's theme, thinking of Ideas with Capital Letters, when I realized that was rather artificial.

The theme will simply be the thing I'm most interested in - people. I'm going to start off by observing and drawing people at whatever location or event I might be present at. Eventually, then, the book will be a record of peoples' doings, in various locations around the world, through the eyes of several artists.

I drew first at a street art show, and at a wine-tasting, trying to show something of the people there. I'll leave off showing a work-in-progress page until later. At this writing I have two of my panels complete, so I'm guessing I'll be able to send this on in a week or two.

Who's next? And how are you beginning your books?

Welcome to moly_x_15!

This group, founded by karo g a.k.a. monikasilvs (country?), is an extension of the Moleskine Exchange. This blog will follow the adventure of a group of artists around the world, in a Japanese fold Moleskine sketchbook exchange.

Each artist will set off with a small Japanese (accordian) folded Moleskine. Creating a drawing, collage, or painting, then send on to the next artist. Each artist will draw on a couple of spreads (3-4 pages) then send it on to the next artist. When the artists book is filled, it will be returned to the owner with images created by artist around the world. Each artist has a month to make an entry. The outcome will be a pleasant and surprising adventure, as artists are encouraged to interact and merge their art with others.

The concept:

1. The artists start with the Japanese fold Moleskine - Name, address, email address written in book.

2. Each artist gets 1 month to make a sketchbook entry, and mail it to the next person. The order is listed to the right.

3. Each artist will do 3-4 pages each round.

4. Artists are encouraged to interact with other images in the book. Please be respectful.

5. When the book is full, when one side of the unfolded book is filled, the book will be sent back to its original owner. That artist may continue by buying a new book and sending it to the next person.

6. If a person decides not to continue, she will simply keep her book when it comes back to her. She should email all of the participants to say she is not going to continue. We will decide, then, if we want to find a new person.

7. Please communicate regularly via email. Let each person know that you have received/sent the book. The goal is to have a dialogue. Any comments and questions are welcome.
